A MESSAGE FROM THE LEFT HAND SEAT:
For this issue of the Vagabond News, I'd like to discuss three subjects:
The first is the Association's 13 March, 2006 Business Meeting at the Holiday Inn on Hilton Head Island, home of our 2007 reunion. Although this is a scheduled meeting of your board of directors, it is open to all members of the Association, and you certainly are cordially invited. If you live in the area, you may want to just drop in for the morning meeting. If you're looking for a mini-vacation to get away from the winter blahs, the hotel is offering us a great rate of $69.00 per night (plus taxes, of course) that will be good from 10 March through 16 March, but hurry; rooms may not be available if you delay. The hotel can be reached by calling (843) 785-5126 Ext: 120. During the meeting, in addition to discussing normal business that shouldn't wait until the next reunion to be resolved, this get together will provide us with an opportunity to review the plans for the 2007 Reunion, and everyone's input is welcome.
My second issue is that of the BIOGRAPHY section of our squadron web site. Although we have over 1300 identified members on our Association roster, and over 500 on our email list (proving that at least that many have access to the internet), only 50 biographies have been provided to date (and that includes Lt. Irving H. Glick's). Please go to the site, which can be found at http://www.vp-21.org/biographies/ and add your biography to those of your squadron mates. We're all interested in hearing what you've been doing since you left the squadron.
My third subject is the biography of the above-mentioned Lt. Irving H. Glick, USNR. Not the overly modest one that Irving provided for himself, but rather the more comprehensive (though certainly not complete) one that has been developed by your board of directors. It can be reached by going to http://www.vp-21.org/GLICK/. In the last few newsletters I requested that those of you who know and love Irv send me your stories. Only five people have to date (one will be entered during the next update), and one of them is from VP-10. I know we can do better, and hope that when you've had the opportunity to read about Irv's adventures, you'll be reminded of other exploits and will be more willing to contribute to this vital piece of our squadron's history. So send in your stories, please. If you're uncertain of your writing skills, don't worry. Just provide the gist of the story, and I'll be happy to smooth it up for you. FROM THE RADIO COMPARTMENT:
This is another gentle reminder to keep your address information up to date with the association. As you know, the postal rates have gone up as of January of this year. This means that in addition to the cost of the initial mailing, each returned newsletter costs the association an additional $.75 to $1.00 in return postage. Thanks for those of you who have been kind enough to include the VPB-111/VP-21 Veteran's Association in your change of address packet with the post office.
There are still rosters to be had (for member use only) at a small fee of $5.00. Please remit your request to me and I will get it to you as fast as I can.

A MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: That's it for now, guys. Start making plans for next year's reunion. For those of you who have attended our reunions in the past, I'm sure that you'll agree that they become progressively better each time. If you have not attended any of our reunions, I would like to suggest that you consider doing so. It is a great experience to see and meet with your shipmates from years gone by. I look forward to seeing all of you at Hilton Head. Until then, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe New Year.
