Jim Gibson, CAC #5, remembers this photo, starting with the front row left: Norman L. Speary (tail gunner), Eddie Trybala (2nd radioman, manned the radar and backed up the 1st radioman), Robert L. Trivett (radio striker.....he flew with us on rare occasions. Earlier in VP-102, he flew with us regularly, Sammy Leonetti (plane captain....the best in the west, the east, the north and the south). Top row from left: First man....unknown but Sammy will know his name. Next is Frank H. Brauner (1st mech and waist gunner), Farville K. "Bud" Mills, Jr. (bow gunner, crew ordnanceman and bombardier), Joseph H. Palmer (2nd mech and waist gunner in England and North Africa....he was noved to another crew in the Pacific). The last man is James C. (Jim) Gibson, yours truly, (1st radioman and shared the deck turret with Sammy). This picture was taken at an interesting site between Port! Lyautey and Fes on a four day R&R. We usually went to either Fes or Meknes on our R&R trips. Fez was more interesting, but was farther away. When browsing through old ONE ELEVEN pictures, if you encounter a guy with his white hat turned upside down on his head, you will know it is "Bud" Mills.
