February - March 1945. Tacloban, Lyete Is., P.I. Louie and J.C. France most likely on a mail run into town. This photo was developed in the reverse. Jeep outside the Special Service Center I &E may have been where they picked up mail and money orders. Louie would gather up money from the Squadron menbers and buy money orders so the guys could send them home.
Need help identifying the two Sq. members standing with Louie outside the canvas tents. webmaster
Louie writes in his letter home that the Squadron had a going away party on 2 March 1945 for the crews that were going home under the rotation program. The crews were most likely, Lt. Fleming's CAC 11, and Lt. Emerson's CAC 13. These two crews were detatched around the end of Feb. 1945. Lt. Tvedt's CAC 4 was detatched around the 10th of Feb. 1945 so they might not have stayed until March.
